Manchester United midfielder Tom Cleverley is eager to make England's World Cup squad.

England coach Roy Hodgson has hinted he will not be swayed by the last couple of months when selecting his squad for Brazil and will consider the whole qualification campaign, when he regularly picked Cleverley.

"It doesn't get much bigger," admitted the Reds midfielder. "Playing for your country and being involved in the World Cup, especially in Brazil, would be a fantastic achievement.

"I've been in the squad for the last two years so I'd be disappointed, obviously, if I wasn't to go. But there are a lot of great players in this country and competition is stiff so let's see what happens.

"Obviously, if he says it's over a two-year period then that would benefit me. I played in seven of the 10 qualifiers and was involved in every squad. Hopefully, he does look at that but other players have been fantastic this season."
