Man Utd matchwinner Maguire: Onana will prove himself here

Manchester United defender Harry Maguire has admitted to having a tough time in recent months.

The English centre-half had lost his United place, and the club captaincy, under manager Erik ten Hag.

However, injuries have brought him back into the team, and he now looks closer to his best.

Maguire scored the winner in a 1-0 success over FC Copenhagen in the Champions League group stages.

Maguire spoke to MUTV post-game, stating: "It was an amazing ball [from Eriksen].

"It was really tough to get something from a corner tonight, their big center half kept heading them all away, but it was a second phase and I knew I had the beating of the man that was picking me up.

"It was all about the delivery, which made it easy for me to hit the target from so close and an amazing feeling to score in front of the Stretford End in the Champions League and a big moment for myself, but more importantly, the team.

"Playing for this club, there's ups and downs. When you win, everyone is on top of the world and when you lose, there's a crisis and it's always someone's fault. Andre [Onana] is a big personality and he'll get used to it.

"He's going to be a big player for this club. He's had a lot of scrutiny but we've been giving him far too much to deal with as a defense, so it's a big moment for him and it's a really high-standard penalty save. I'm really pleased for him."
