Manchester United loanee Facundo Pellistri wrote to sacked manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after his departure from the club.
The Norwegian lost his job after United's 4-1 loss in the Premier League to Watford, with German Ralf Rangnick readying to take over as interim boss in the coming days.
Pellistri, who is out on loan at Deportivo Alaves in La Liga, spoke about the Solskjaer situation recently.
Speaking to The Guardian, Pellistri began: "I wrote to Ole, he gave me the chance to play for United and always taught me.
''I thanked him and wished him the best. Sadly, in football, results rule.
"When things aren't going well, the easiest thing is to sack the coach — that happens everywhere.
"Football's like that. It can be cruel.''
