Manchester United and Liverpool are following the progress of PSV Eindhoven attacker Steven Bergwijn.
The exciting prospect has just won his first cap with Holland and rated the jewel of his country's new generation of footballers.
De Telegraaf says scouts from United and Liverpool were posted at PSV's Champions League defeat to Inter Milan on Wednesday to run the rule over Bergwijn.
PSV rejected offers from Torino and Bordeaux last summer for the attacker.
Mark van Bommel, the PSV coach, remarked on Friday: "Steven has very sensible people around him. His parents are a real example as good parents, in the way they deal with him. We talked well together during the summer. I think it's really great.
"Perhaps already he's a top European player. Yes, already."
