Manchester United legend Paul Scholes is a proud club owner today after Salford City's shock FA Cup win over Notts County last night.

Along with Ryan Giggs, Nicky Butt, Gary and Phil Neville, Scholes has been putting his heart into ensuring progress on and off the pitch for the Evo-Stik League minnows.

He said: “Salford is a very different level. It is a lot lower than Manchester United, which is a team that is close to my heart and I still love Manchester United.

“It is different to come here. It reminds me very much of my Oldham days, going to watch them as the underdog, trying to beat teams – and that is what we have done tonight in a very similar way to what Oldham did."

And on the win, Scholes said: “It's not quite as good as winning the FA Cup - but it's right up there!"
