Man Utd legend Scholes: I will always question Lindelof place

Manchester United great Paul Scholes has questioned Victor Lindelof's position in their starting XI.

The Swede was part of the defence which slipped three goals in Saturday's 3-3 draw against Everton.

And Scholes says the defence overall hasn't been up to standard for United this season as they aspire to challenge rivals Manchester City for this term's Premier League title.

Indeed, the Treble winner points a finger at Lindelof and concedes he'll always question the centre-half's position in manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's starting XI.

"Their defence has not been good enough. It is difficult to put your finger on what it is, but individually everything looks good. (Harry) Maguire is a good defender," says Scholes quoted by Fotboll Transfers via the Daily Mirror.

"I still have question marks about Lindelof. I will always have that. I do not think he is smart enough to play next to Maguire.

"I do not think he is aggressive enough."

Lindelof has been carrying a back injury for much of this season, but has still managed 25 appearances, including 17 in the Premier League for one goal. The 26 year-old, signed from Benfica, has a contract with United to 2024.

After Saturday's 3-3 draw with Everton, Lindelof and United are again in action tonight against West Ham United in the fifth round of the FA Cup.
