Manchester United legend Bryan Robson doesn't believe the captaincy should go to Ashley Young.
Robson regards Chris Smalling or Nemanja Matic as better candidates.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been deliberating who will get the skipper's armband following the departure of Antonio Valencia.
Robson said, "It's getting on that pitch and demanding from your team-mates and then trying to lead by example as well.
"That is what some of our lads have got to step up to the mantle and prove that.
"When I look at the United squad and watch training, Chris Smalling and Nemanja Matic have got it in them.
"During my playing time, we had loads of captains on the pitch. People like Kasper Schmeichel, Brucey (Steve Bruce), Roy Keane, Paul Ince, Mark Hughes."
