Man Utd, LA Galaxy icon Beckham admits to Miami delays but says 'it will happen'

David Beckham has made it clear that his bid to find a soccer-specific stadium in Miami 'will happen'.

The former Manchester United and LA Galaxy star holds the rights to a franchise in south Florida with business partner Simon Fuller and Bolivian billionaire Marcelo Claure but they are experiencing some difficulty in pinpointing a site.

There have been a couple of proposals from Beckham's team, including an area next to the American Airlines Arena (home of NBA's Miami Heat), but as of yet nothing has come to the fore.

However, Beckham is confident that there will be an outcome as his bid continues to pursue a stadium site that can accommodate a second Floridian MLS side.

"Miami obviously doesn't have a stadium at the moment, and we'll continue to work hard on that," Beckham told the BBC in London.

"We're making some really good progress, some real positive progress, so at some point in the next couple of months there will be some announcements.

"So it's hard work, of course, but nothing in life is easy. So we're focusing on that and then we'll announce it when ready."

The former England international, who had stints with Real Madrid, AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain, added: "I mean, delays are always frustrating, but to get it right, sometimes there are delays.

"And we will get it right and it will happen. It's taken a little bit longer than we thought. But it will happen."
