Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag is reluctant to release Anthony Elanga for loan.
Earlier this week, it was reported that Dortmund were keen on a short-term move for the 20-year-old player, who has risen from Man United's youth system.
However, Ten Hag had not yet approved a potential loan move, and now Sky Germany reporter Sven Westerschulze has tweeted to say he believes that the German club are not likely to try and sign Elanga in the coming days, either on a permanent transfer, or as a loan deal.
The Daily Mail says Edin Terzic's Dortmund were unlikely to be very active during the January transfer window, having already acquired Union Berlin's right-back Julian Ryerson for €5m (£4.4m).
The club currently sit sixth in the Bundesliga as it returns from its extended break, while they are also preparing for a pair of Champions League knock-out ties with Premier League side Chelsea.
