Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag was pushed about a new striker signing after victory over Nottingham Forest.
The win was achieved in the aftermath of news that Liverpool had beaten United to the signing of PSV Eindhoven attacker Cody Gakpo.
Ten Hag said: "I don't talk about individual cases. We are looking for offensive players, looking for a striker, that would be good because we have so many games coming.
"We want to keep playing in all the competitions we are in, we want to keep going to the end of the season so you need numbers to keep competing.
"We are always in the market but it has to match the sporting criteria and the financial criteria. We do what we can to bring in the player we need."
Anthony Martial returned to action on Tuesday night and Ten Hag added: "He is fit to play and I'm sure if this game against Wolves was not in three days I would let him stay on. But I want to keep the freshness and save him after so long out."
