Man Utd boss Ten Hag explains signing Butland

Manchester United's first January signing, Jack Butland, has been confirmed by boss Erik ten Hag.

United have secured another backup goalkeeper, after they lost Martin Dubravka.

The latter was recalled from his loan spell at the club by Newcastle United.

Now United are replacing Dubravka with Butland, who joins on loan from Crystal Palace.

Ten Hag told reporters, “Yes, so Martin (Dubravka) was recalled and now to set up we need three experienced goalkeepers, we have some young ones, and they do well, but we have so many games.

“You need three good goalies in training but also when problems are coming you need experience in goal to get your goals, what you are aiming for."
