Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho says he's always been a fan of Phil Jones.

The manager believes Jones is now desperate to make up for lost time after a miserable two-year spell in which he has been crocked more often than he has been fit.

Mourinho said: “The biggest enemy of a player is injury and he had a lot of them.

“So I think if he managed to get over that situation he is a very good player and it looks like he is proving that.

“He was very highly rated at Blackburn when he was younger then played many important matches for Manchester United and his international team.

“Then he had a break, break, break and a break, injury after injury after injury.

“And finally he plays for Manchester United in a row of matches and is playing so well."
