Manchester United have confirmed the shirt number for new signing Alex Telles.

United have confirmed that Telles will wear the No.27 shirt after he joined the club on transfer deadline day.

Telles has made the move to Old Trafford from FC Porto for a fee of £15.4m, and the left-back could be in line to make his debut after the international break when United take on Newcastle on October 17.

Telles has tended to wear the No.13 shirt throughout his career, but was unable to continue wearing the number at United due to the fact that backup goalkeeper Lee Grant currently holds it.

He also briefly wore No.12 during his time at Inter Milan, and he could have also taken that vacant number at United, but it is possible that he has chosen 27 because that is also his age.
