Man Utd ace Fernandes frustrated with ref for Europa League final defeat

Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes was frustrated with the match officials for their Europa League final defeat to Villarreal.

United failed in their attempt to end a four-year wait for a trophy after losing 11-10 on penalties in Gdansk, with David de Gea's spot kick saved by his opposite number Geronimo Rulli.

United went into the break behind following an insipid first-half display after Gerard Moreno's effort, before Edinson Cavani equalised for United in the second half.

The Daily Mail reports Fernandes was visibly angrier than most having emerged from the dressing room following Norwegian boss' half-time team talk and showed his frustration at the referees.

The 26-year-old criticised the length of time it took the officials to make a VAR decision, while also insisting Tottenham loanee Juan Foyth was timewasting following a nosebleed after being accidentally kneed in the head by Paul Pogba.

The Argentine required a headband and needed attention again just a few minutes later when his nose began bleeding again.

'The number eight goes twice," Fernandes is heard saying in the behind-the-scenes clip that has come to light from inside the tunnel.

"One time he stays down one minute. After again and then after the goal.

"You wait one time for VAR. Three minutes?"
