Man Utd ace Eriksen: World Cup was my target after recovery

Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen is excited ahead of Denmark's World Cup campaign.

Eriksen admits Qatar was always the target after recovering from a cardiac arrest suffered at last year's Euros.

"I think one of the first conversations I had with the doctor in Amsterdam, who helped with all the tests, was that it was my goal to play the World Cup if everything went well," he said.

"It was always the dream, but things went as they went, and I was back in March and have since played a number of international matches. I never expected that. It's just amazing.

"I had really missed football. It was wonderful to play again and I got off to the perfect start with the game against Holland where I scored after a few minutes. Scoring in the Parken was just the icing on the cake.

"My goal from the start was to return to the national team and to be part of it again under normal circumstances, and that has happened now. The next goal is, of course, what happens at the WC."
