Man City, Chelsea target Modric "angry" to miss move

Dinamo Zagreb midfielder Luka Modric admits he was left angered after he was priced out of a move to England at the opening of the January market.

Manchester City and Chelsea were going head-to-head for Modric before Dinamo slapped a £20 million-plus price-tag on the midfielder and removed him from the market.

"I was particularly surprised by the sudden change in the state of affairs," Modric said. "A transfer to Europe was almost in the bag. It really was already set.

"I was angry and disappointed, but that is now over.

"Who was interested? It's crazy to mention names now.

"Dinamo is my club and I am prepared to play well to the end of this season."

Modric added: "I'd like to leave in the summer, after the European Championships. Money plays no role. I am happy with what I earn at Dinamo."
