Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini wants a new striker in January.
The People says Mancini is in an awkward spot as he now has to wheel and deal in the New Year window - a month that will decide his long-term future at the club.
City are fighting Manchester United for the title and Mancini has told his bosses that he would like a midfield player with legs and a goalscoring striker to tip the scales.
However the order from above is that City will need to let a couple of prominent players go to make that happen - and Mancini is facing a hard choice on that front.
Edin Dzeko - given a run in the side - may have to be sacrificed if Mancini is to bring in the goalscorer he wants. His sights are on Klaas-Jan Huntelaar who is a free next summer but still commands a fee now.
If City got a big bid for Dzeko and could sign Dutch master Huntelaar at the right price that may be a significant piece of business.
