FSV Mainz are yet to make a decision on whether or not they will sign Christian Clemens permanently.
The 24-year-old winger joined Mainz on loan from Schalke 04 last season before returning to the club in the summer with the view to a permanent deal.
Clemens would cost the Rhineland outfit around €3million but coach Martin Schmidt is unsure if the former FC Cologne attacking midfielder will remain at the Coface Arena on a less temporary basis.
"Mainz has to decide - at a given time - whether we take an option on a contract extension with Christian Clemens and if we draw a purchase option with Schalke," said Schmidt.
Since joining Mainz prior to the 2015/16 season, Clemens has scored four goals in 18 appearances in all competitions.
