One local medical expert doubts an error has been made in the doping test for Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba.

Pogba has been provisionally suspended after testing positive for testosterone.

Massimo Locatelli, a doctor and biochemist, Director of the Laboratory Medicine Service at San Raffaele Hospital, told Sportmediaset: "It means nothing to be positive for testosterone.

"Pogba probably has a much higher ratio between testosterone and the substance into which testosterone is transformed in the body. I imagine it is higher than 5 and this could suggest an exogenous intake of the substance. From here to say what the cause is, it's very difficult. You should have the documents in hand."

Locatelli also spoke about the possibility of errors in the test: "I have many doubts, many. The laboratories are very serious. There is great caution in carrying out the tests. The conclusion is reached after a series of confirmations.

"Testosterone has a anabolic effect, it means that it increases muscle mass and then indirectly there is an effect on hemoglobin. It certainly serves to increase strength generically speaking."
