LOAN WATCH: Yeovil loan benefitting promising Man Utd forward Lawrence

Yeovil Town boss Gary Johnson is delighted to be playing a part in the development of young forward Tom Lawrence.

The 20-year old is on a three-month loan with the Glovers from Manchester United and thus far has made five appearances for the Championship club.

Wales U21 international Lawrence impressed on loan with League One club Carlisle United earlier in the season and is now doing well at Huish Park which has prompted words of praise from Johnson.

"When Manchester United spoke to us and we spoke to them, he needed a club that would take a chance on a young, inexperienced Championship player," he told the Western Gazette.

"It was the same as Shane Duffy, John Lundstram or Joe Ralls, where we had to take the chance.

"We're not getting ready-made Championship players, it's impossible. We have to take a chance sometimes in getting these players and working with them.

"All of those lads are here until the end of the season. When you're taking a chance you can't get them all right and so obviously the ones that didn't work out we didn't keep very long.

"The judgement with most has been good and certainly the group that we have been left with are doing a job in the Championship."
