Artur Boruc is determined that his loan spell with Championship club AFC Bournemouth will enhance his Poland national team hopes.
The 34-year old Southampton goalkeeper is on an emergency loan with the Cherries where he will remain until January and is looking for regular first team action in England's second tier.
Former Celtic and Fiorentina keeper Boruc, who moved to Dean Court after the Saints signed Fraser Forster, made his debut in Bournemouth's 1-1 draw with Watford on the weekend and is now hoping to continue as Eddie Howe's number one in order to challenge Arsenal's Wojciech Szczesny for the gloves in the Poland side.
"I'm an ambitious guy and that's the reason I'm here," he told the Daily Echo.
"I'm not the type of guy who will sit on the bench and watch others.
"I would like to be in the national team and that will not be the situation if I am not playing. The manager (Adam Nawalka) preferred Wojciech Szczesny last time and that's why I want to play (club football) again.
"With the situation I'm in, it helps me to play every week. I did not have many chances back in Southampton and Bournemouth is not far from there.
"I thought about my kids when I made the decision and for me, life will stay the same. I am doing what I love and that's the main thing."
