Fabio Borini admits he would like to remain with Sunderland if parent club Liverpool no longer want him.
The 23-year old Italian striker has had a successful season on loan with the Black Cats, scoring nine goals in 39 outings in all competitions, including some vital strikes in their survival fight.
Borini is expected to return to Anfield this summer but has made it clear that he would return to the Stadium of Light in a heartbeat if both clubs can agree on a transfer.
"Anything is possible," said Borini.
"It depends on what Liverpool say. They will need a bigger squad because you can't play in four competitions with the same 11 players.
"But I've enjoyed every second here.
"It's been great from the fans, the city and everyone at Sunderland, the love and friendship that they have given me throughout the season has been incredible."
