Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is weighing up making a 'veteran' striker signing in January.
El Confidencial says rather than splash out on a frontline centre-forward, Florentino is now leaning towards bringing in an experienced alternative on the cheap.
The plan would be for the striker to complement their current attack and not be a threat to the likes of Karim Benzema and Mariano Diaz.
An early contender would be Tottenham centre-forward Fernando Llorente, who has admitted some regret at staying with the Londoners this season.
Florentino has dabbled with this approach before, enjoying success with the short-term signing of Emmanuel Adebayor from Manchester City in January 2011.
