Liverpool will be without Thiago Alcantara for Wednesday's clash with Ajax.

The Spaniard suffered a knee injury after a dangerous challenge from Everton star Richarlison in the drawn Merseyside derby on the weekend.

There was no serious damage done, but the Liverpool Echo reports Thiago will skip the midweek Champions League meeting in Amsterdam.

The Reds will gauge Thiago's fitness later in the week to see if he can face Sheffield United at Anfield on Saturday.

Saturday's match also saw Jurgen Klopp lose Virgil van Dijk for a long-term injury.
