Liverpool are keen to bring in a quality defender after missing the boat with Blackburn Rovers youngster Phil Jones.
The Reds have already been linked with Birmingham City's Scott Dann, who reportedly wants to continue in the Premier League, but now they are likely to go after him harder as Jones looks set to join Manchester United.
24-year old Dann is valued at around £10million and the fact that he is a Liverpool supporter and former season ticket holder suggests he could be interested in an Anfield homecoming.
