Rickie Lambert is ready to make his Liverpool debut against former club Southampton.
Lambert admits he always had a feeling Liverpool would be pitted against his ex-employers on the opening day.
"I was at home waiting for the fixtures to come through and I just laughed. It was always going to be and I said before they came out it would be Southampton," he told Liverpoolfc.com.
"I thought it was going to be at St. Mary's - that's not the case, but it was inevitable that it would be the game."
