Liverpool striker Danny Ings is still unsure about his spot in Jurgen Klopp's starting line-up ahead of the new season.
The 24-year-old, who signed for the Reds from Burnley last summer, was forced to miss most of the season with an anterior cruciate ligament injury.
The England international came back late last season for a cameo against West Bromwich Albion which has been his only competitive action under Klopp.
Ings has impressed during the club's pre-season, but he will still have to fight with the likes of Daniel Sturridge, Divock Origi and Christian Benteke for a spot in the starting eleven.
"I wouldn't really know," Ings said when asked where does he fit under Klopp.
"The only competition I've got now is myself to be honest. I'm focused on getting myself into the best physical shape possible and strongest mental state possible.
"I need to fully overcome the injury worries, focus every day and be ready for whenever I'm picked.
"It's fairly similar [to last season] because we've had big players come in again for big money again, and obviously my fee got settled which was much less than what they cost.
"For me, it's not about price tags. It's about your individual qualities, how hard you work and it's important to make full use of the opportunities when they come.
"Last season, I did get my opportunity and I like to think I did take it - I made my debut for my country which I was over the moon about and it was all taken away from me a few days later. As I said, the biggest competition is myself and it will always be."
