Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana's impressive performance in the 3-0 win against Manchester City has earned rave reviews from manager Jurgen Klopp.

The 27-year-old worked tirelessly in the game and produced a goal and an assist in the win at Anfield.

"It was absolutely brilliant," Klopp told BT Sport.

"What can I say about him? He's a great, great player.

"And for our game very, very important because he is a real lively, energetic player.

"He loves pressing and counter-pressing. At the end all of the people, well most of the people, remember his genius goal or when he played a pass to Roberto [Firmino] was really good too.

"But the best thing tonight was his counter-pressing actions and he had a few problems I think at the end of the first half.

"I thought it was really intensive and in the second half it was like now he's free and can go maybe until the end so I thought maybe I should take him [off]."
