Liverpool signing Oussama Assaidi is pleased with his first days at Anfield.

The former SC Heerenveen winger expects to make his debut on Sunday against Arsenal.

Assaidi admits he was close to signing for Ajax until Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers made his move: "Trainer Brendan Rodgers said I had to turn down Ajax and that he wanted me.

"The technical director at Liverpool also called and told me he wanted to meet in the Netherlands. I was impressed by that."

On missing the match against Manchester City, Assaidi explained: "They said my condition wasn't the best, they were right about that."
