Liverpool rejected an offer from Nottingham Forest this week for Caoimhín Kelleher.
Before Thursday's transfer deadline, Forest tabled £15m for Republic of Ireland goalkeeper Kelleher.
But the Daily Mail says the proposal was immediately rejected by the Reds.
Forest instead completed its search for another goalkeeper by signing Matz Sels (31).
The Belgian moved from RacingStrasbourg to Forest for €8m.
