Liverpool are weighing up a potential swap deal that would see Fiorentina's Mario Gomez replace Mario Balotelli at Anfield.

Italian publication SportMediaset is reporting that Balotelli and Gomez will switch clubs on season-long loan deals.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodges did not include Balotelli in the Reds' travelling squad for their pre-season tour of Australia and Asia earlier this week, indicating the Italian international's time on Merseyside may be drawing to a close.

It is understood that both clubs are interested in completing a deal, with an agreement from both Gomez and Balotelli believed to be the final piece of the puzzle.
