Liverpool assistant manager Zeljko Buvac is in Mainz today after being granted leave by the club.
BILD says the root cause of Buvac's departure is a falling out with manager Jurgen Klopp.
While in England it's been suggested a clash after their 0-0 draw with Stoke sparked the row, in Germany they insist the problems between the pair have been simmering for months.
Liverpool's players were informed of the decision on Sunday, with the club making it public on Monday afternoon.
Buvac and Klopp have been working together since 2004.
