Liverpool legend and former Wales manager John Toshack is in intensive care.

The 72-year-old footballing great is suffering from complications of contracting COVID-19.

Basque daily El Diario Vasco states that Toshack's condition has gotten worse, and that he is in intensive care with serious pneumonia.

Toshack was a successful manager, with stints at Real Madrid, Real Sociedad, and other clubs around Europe.

He is said to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, and had a back operation several months ago.
