Goal reports Fowler could be on his way to the India Super League for his next job.
The former Reds striker is set to be appointed as manager of East Bengal ahead of their new season.
Fowler has previously taken charge of Thailand club as Muangthong United, originally as a player-manager before most recently taking the reigns of Brisbane Roar in Australia.
He left the A-league club a few months ago with a statement citing the impact of the coronavirus pandemic for the decision.
East Bengal, known as the Red and Golds, were only confirmed as the 11th team in India's top division this morning according to the same publication.
