Liverpool keeper Davies welcomes daily Brazilian influence

Liverpool goalkeeper Harvey Davies is enjoying the Brazilian influence on his career.

Davies is learning from senior No1 Alisson, while he is working daily with Reds keeper coach Claudio Taffarel.

"Ali has always been top with me since the first time I trained there," the 19-year-old told the Liverpool Echo. "He always kind of looked after me and helped me out with different things if I was struggling in training. He sometimes gives me a few little points on how to make a better save or make my footwork better, or decision-making and things like that.

"Knowing that he's willing to help me makes you feel a lot more comfortable, but there's a little bit of pressure because you know he's watching you! He's so calming because of the way he comes around to you and makes sure you're ok. He really is a really good role model.

"I remember when I first started training with the first team every day, I think it was a few weeks before I even saw him make a slight mistake, dropping the ball or something. That's why he's the best in the world because his levels are so high and he doesn't take his foot off the pedal. He really is superhuman in terms of goalkeeping. He always knows what the right thing to do is at the right time.

"At the moment, having seen how Ali works at Liverpool, I'd be daft not to try and copy what he does because he's probably the best goalkeeper Liverpool have ever had. Especially seeing him first-hand."

Davies is also happy working with Tafarrel daily.

"Obviously, Claudio Taffarel has won the World Cup and not many people can say that! He's one of the most competitive people I've ever met," adds Davies. "He'll try and beat you at anything, no matter what it is.

"For me, it gives that spirit of I need to fight, fight, fight all the time for what I want to achieve. Even if it's beating him at a game of two-touch or something like that. He's so competitive and it shows in his training. That's probably why he won the World Cup!"
