Liverpool fullback Robertson unsurprised by Alexander-Arnold England midfield success

Liverpool fullback Andrew Robertson is unsurprised over Trent Alexander-Arnold's success in England's midfield.

The Liverpool fullback has been outstanding in midfield for England in this week's Euro qualifying.

“Trent is Trent and that's the biggest compliment I can pay him," the Scotland captain told Sky Sports.

“He adapts to anything you ask of him, he's still relatively young but he's got a wise head on his shoulders and I think when you're that technically gifted, you've got that much ability, you've got that much talent, then you can play in any position and he would make the most of it and more importantly he's got that aggression and he's got that will to succeed – and I think you've seen that.

“Obviously going away with England has been tough for him over the years. He's probably not played as much as he wants, been left out of some squads and things like that, but I think maybe they've found a position for him and now that he can play there and learn in it still – and the scary thing is that he'll improve in that position as well.

“So, obviously that's from an England point of view. We're more worried about the Liverpool point of view and we'll see what happens there, what position he takes up in pre-season and things like that, but from an England point of view I think he got the credit he deserved in the last two games and hopefully that's him maybe getting a run in the team."
