Liverpool fullback Joe Gomez says he can use his monster throw-ins as an attacking weapon.
For England's win over Croatia, Gomez's throw set up Jesse Lingard's equaliser and came three months after his club manager Jurgen Klopp recruited a specialist throw-in coach at Liverpool.
The sheer distance of the 21-year-old's deliveries will make them an asset for a manager who is meticulous in his attention to set-pieces. Both England goals at Wembley came in that manner, following nine from the 12 goals at the World Cup.
Gomez said: "I don't think you can underestimate what set-pieces can do in a game. I don't want to build a reputation for just being able to take long throws. We got a goal from it and it's nice to have a goal but it's not something we are going to rely on every time a ball goes out of play.
"We are a footballing side and I don't want to just be seen as that. But if called upon and it's the right moment then you can try and use it. It doesn't always work but luckily on this occasion for us it helped."
