Liverpool are leading the race for Porto midfielder Fernando.
The Daily Star says the midfielder's contract runs out in the summer and according to reports in Portugal, the reds are leading the race ahead of other interested European parties to bolster their team with the 26-year-old.
Fernando would be seen as an attractive prospect at Anfield as boss Brendan Rodgers continues his push for Champions League football with just four senior central midfielders, including Steven Gerrard, Lucas Leiva, Joe Allen and Jordan Henderson.
