Liverpool defender Van Dijk: BBC? We have just as good!

Liverpool defender Virgil Van Dijk believes that his side are among Europe's best.

The Reds clinched a place in the Champions League semi-finals for the first time in 11-years after they defeated Roma in their semi-final tie this week.

Since arriving at the Reds in a club-record £75 million deal from Southampton during the January transfer window, Van Dijk has become an important member of the squad and helped them to reach the Champions League final.

Van Dijk will have to work hard during the final as he will have to aim to keep the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale all at bay.

The Dutchman believes that his team-mates Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino are in the same mould.

He said: "Based on this season, based on the numbers, they definitely deserve to be in that bracket.

"The other guys have been doing it for years and that's maybe something for them to do.

"We're not going there to lose. We know we have a lot of quality and so they need to be wary of what we can do. We also need to be wary of what they can do.

"We know that the last five years, they have been the big winners and have a lot of experience. We'll be ready for it."
