Liverpool are pursuing a move for Real Betis defender Aissa Mandi in January.

The Reds are seeking cover for injured center back Virgil Van Dijk, who may not be back until next season.

They came in for the player in the summer, but had a £9 million offer rejected.

Mandi has 18 months left on his Betis contract, and the Reds hope a slightly higher bid would be enough to tempt his club to sell.
