Liverpool concern as Egypt plan Salah demand

Liverpool star Mohamed Salah could find himself in a club versus country row next season.

The Egyptian winger is a key player for the Reds, having renewed his contract last season.

Salah will miss games in January due to the African Cup of Nations, during which he will likely captain Egypt.

Now there is news that Egypt want Salah as one of the over-23 players for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

“I am doing my best to choose the young players who will participate in the upcoming Olympics," coach Rogerio Micale said, quoted by Ahram Online.

"We still have one year to think of the matter and evaluate the situation, but for sure we welcome Salah… Salah is as significant as Neymar in Brazil."

Given the timing of that tournament, Salah would miss pre-season of the 2024-2025 season.
