Liverpool chairman Tom Werner has insisted owners, Fenway Sports Group (FSG), are not seeking to sell the club.

There have been multiple reports in recent years over a possible takeover at Anfield.

Speaking ahead of Saturday's Champions League final with Tottenham Hotspur, Werner reassured fans the club's American owners had 'no intention of selling'.

Asked if FSG were seeking a buyer, Werner added: "Every time those rumours come up we bat them down. I hope people now know that we are focused on continuing the progress of this club.

"We have no intention of selling. We have reached a position where I think the club is in the best shape it's been for a very long time.

"We have always said that our desire is to win silverware and we're hungry to touch that trophy in Madrid."
