Liverpool boss Rodgers delighted for Suarez over PFA Player of Year

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is delighted for Luis Suarez after he was named PFA Player of the Year.

The award completes quite a turnaround for Suarez who was handed a 10-game ban for biting Branislav Ivanovic 12 months ago.

"I think it's a remarkable turnaround for a player who has been vilified - and some may see he brought it on himself - but it's great to see someone change and to be stood up there getting this award," said Rodgers.

"He's a real humble guy and so professional. People don't see that. This is a guy who, when he finishes his meal, he gets his two bottles of water, four litres, he takes it away, he's drinking, he's making sure he's hydrated before games.

"He never misses a training session. He's never on the treatment table. And the kicks he gets, the knocks he gets, his day doesn't finish early. He's preparing.

"His award isn't just for what he does on the pitch. It's also for what he does in order to perform like that, which is super-professional."
