Liverpool boss Klopp: Cardiff produced a dangerous pitch

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp blasted Cardiff City's pitch tactics for Sunday's win.

Klopp was unhappy with the state of the Cardiff pitch, suggesting after game that it was too dry and subsequently unsafe.

Asked how a dry pitch affects the game, Klopp replied after their 2-0 win: “We had to convince our groundsman it was against the ethos, they didn't want to do it because they're too proud for that.

"Don't cut the grass and leave it dry. We trained yesterday for one hour and 10 minutes on a bone-dry pitch just to get used to it. I spoke about that last year at West Brom when people called me a bad loser.

"I don't even remember if we lost that day or drew. It's just football. Dry pitches are dangerous, for players injury-wise. You run and when you stop, it can happen. You know why people leave a pitch dry so I don't have to say that.

"If you didn't see it, I'm sorry about that. I don't know exactly why the pitch was dry – the ball doesn't roll that quickly. It's difficult for the fluency of the game.

"If you ask footballers what they want, they'd say a wet pitch, let's go, let's pass, let's play football. You can slide better, everything is better.

"But we were prepared. This time we learned from all of our mistakes in the past. This time we were prepared so I'm happy with the outcome."
