Leicester midfielder Maddison again misses England training

Leicester City midfielder James Maddison is struggling with injury at the World Cup.

Maddison was once again been absent from England training, fuelling fears that the Leicester star will miss England's World Cup opener on Monday, says the Daily Mail.

This absence marks the third consecutive day that the former Norwich star has been able to train alongside the rest of Gareth Southgate's squad, as he trained indoors away from his teammates.

The 25-year-old has been struggling with a knee issue since being forced off during Leicester's final Premier League game before the break as the Foxes defeated West Ham at the London Stadium.

However, Maddison's injury is not believed to be serious and it is likely that the midfielder will be available for selection in England's next group ties against Wales and the USA.

The remaining 25 players selected by Southgate went ahead with training as usual at their Al-Wakrah Sports Club base.

Man City star Kyle Walker trained alongside his teammates, but is also unlikely to play any part against Iran as he continues his recovery after limping off of City's Manchester derby win over United in October.
