Leicester City boss Dean Smith was pleased with center back Caglar Soyuncu.

Smith took the brave decision of bringing the defender in from the cold after he took over as manager recently.

The Turkish stopper could not help his team to a result against Manchester City, but did impress Smith nonetheless.

“I watched him in training for the first two days and really liked what I saw," Smith stated on Soyuncu after a 3-1 loss to City at the weekend.

“He's played two games in the international period.

“I liked what I saw and I liked the fire in his eyes as well. He wants to play. Football is his life and his love. I thought he showed that. I thought it was a really committed performance from him.

“Our outside centre-halves in the second half (Soyuncu and Wout Faes) were really committed and really aggressive and I'm pleased to have him on board."
