Leicester boss Rodgers confirms leg fracture for Pereira

Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers has confirmed a leg fracture for Ricardo Pereira.

Pereira has broken his leg while Caglar Soyuncu and Patson Daka face short spells on the sidelines as Leicester City's injury issues pile up.

Ricardo had said on social media he faced “some time" out but Rodgers has now confirmed he has fractured his fibula as a result of Tyler Morton's reckless challenge during the Carabao Cup tie with Liverpool in midweek.

The Portuguese faces up to eight weeks watching from the stands, and for three of those weeks he will be joined by Soyuncu and Daka.

Soyuncu also hobbled in midweek following a hamstring strain, while Rodgers has revealed Daka hurt his hamstring five minutes into the clash at Anfield, but played on into the second half before being substituted.

Rodgers said after the 6-3 loss to Manchester City: "Patson will be three weeks, Soyuncu will be out for three weeks, and Ricardo Pereira will be six to eight weeks.

“That's so frustrating for him with how hard he has worked. For the referee not to see that, it's a fractured fibula and he's lucky it's not worse.

“Ryan (Bertrand) twisted his knee in the warm-up, which was disappointing."
