Leeds midfielder Kalvin Phillips agrees new deal

Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips will pen a new five-year deal this week.

The midfielder was a target for Aston Villa and Burnley in the summer, but neither side came close to matching the £20million valuation Leeds had of the academy product.

And he has now agreed terms on a new deal which reflects his value to manager Marcelo Bielsa, who has had a significant impact on his career since joining Leeds in summer 2018, says the Daily Mail.

Villa had offered £15m for him in June, which Leeds swiftly rejected as they looked to hold onto him.

After weeks of negotiations between agent Kevin Sharp and Leeds following the closing of the summer transfer window, Phillips has now agreed a deal worth around £20,000-a-week, which will take him closer to the highest earners at Elland Road.
