Leeds fury over Dieng snub as Marseille attempt to rescue sale

Leeds United are fuming after missing out on Olympique Marseille striker Bamba Dieng on deadline day.

The 22-year-old was waiting to fly to Leeds when Nice made a counter offer. As such, Dieng pulled out of the Leeds deal and headed to Nice. However, the striker failed his medical in the final hours of the summer market.

After director of football Victor Orta had agreed an £8.6million fee, the 22-year-old forward was sat at a private jet terminal in France with his plane on standby to fly to Leeds for his medical.

However, when French side Nice made a counter bid, Dieng dramatically snubbed Leeds' offer and headed for the south of France instead, says the Daily Mail.

Marseille will try to revive a deal for him today - they are allowed to sign one player outside of the window as long as he is with a French club.
