Lee Sharpe exclusive: Kobbie Mainoo will be pushed further forward at Man Utd

Manchester United Double winner Lee Sharpe can see Kobbie Mainoo being moved into a more advanced midfield position later in his career.

Sharpe admits he's been impressed by the midfielder and can see United making more of the attacking facets of his game as he matures.

He told Tribalfootball.com: "I'm always careful about hype, as it can be a short-term thing, but he looks the real deal.

"He showed great composure for that goal at Wolves a couple of weeks ago and he looks like he has everything. He does look like he will be a top, top player."

Asked about Mainoo's long-term position, Sharpe - who won three Premier League titles with United - admits he sees him playing further forward than his current defensive midfield role.

He said: "Yeah, again look at the goal against Wolves. He collected the ball, dipped his shoulder and went past one player and then calmy finished in the far corner.

"I think he has goals in him.

"I can see he has the composure and the ability to read the game as a defensive midfielder. But he also has everything to do the attacking stuff."
